Hatha yoga is a branch of yoga. The word haṭha literally means “force” and thus alludes to a system of physical techniques.
It is based on asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques). Ashtanga Yoga is dynamic, physically demanding practice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many vinyasas, is great for building core strength and toning the body. Pilyoga is a combination of Pilates and relaxing yoga.
